In the lecture series by renowned historian A.V. Shubin, "The Socialist Idea: From Utopia to Practice", the focus is on the evolution of perspectives regarding an optimal human society that surpasses capitalism in its qualities - a utopia or a "non-existent place". Perhaps, it's non-existent for now. This society has been named in various ways: communism, socialism, anarchy, and currently, many characteristics of past utopias are being discussed in relation to the prospect of a post-industrial society.

These lectures will introduce brilliant thinkers such as More, Campanella, Proudhon, Marx, Engels, Bakunin, Kropotkin, Mikhailovsky, Lenin, and others; their debates and practical endeavors, about Internationals, the Paris Commune, "Going to the people", and other revolutionary experiences. The lecturer intends to draw listeners' attention primarily to those ideas of past theoreticians which still hold relevance in the 21st century.
