The lecture series titled "The Socialist Idea: From Utopia to Practice" by the renowned historian A.V. Shubin will explore the evolution of perspectives on an optimal human society that surpasses capitalism in its attributes, about utopia, or the "place that does not exist". Maybe it doesn't exist yet. This society has been labeled differently: communism, socialism, anarchy, and today many aspects of past utopias are discussed in relation to the prospects of a post-industrial society.

The lectures will delve into the thoughts of luminaries such as More, Campanella, Proudhon, Marx, Engels, Bakunin, Kropotkin, Mikhailovsky, Lenin, and many others; about their debates and practical attempts, about Internationals, Paris Commune, "going to the people" and other revolutionary experiences. The lecturer intends to draw the audience's attention primarily to those theories from the past that remain relevant in the 21st century.
