[Machine Knitting] Jacket "Margo" [Olga Yuryeva]
Historically, a jacket was just a female version of a man's blazer. Today, this notion could be contested as jackets and blazers have diversified greatly. There was a time when blazers were strictly for men, but for women wanting to wear them, a new term, "jacket," was created.
Decades later, Coco Chanel fashioned an exclusively feminine version of the blazer, giving birth to cropped jackets' triumphant journey.
Jackets are highly versatile:
- Fitted or loose
- Long-sleeved or short
- Pocketed or leaf-patterned
- Decorated or plain
- Knitted, tweeded, or...
In short, the possibilities are endless.
We've crafted our own delightful "Margo" jacket.
The jacket is entirely knit on a Silver Reed single-bed machine. It can be replicated on any knitting machine.
We used a proprietary Excel-based program for calculations.
After assembly, the jacket was felted in a washing machine to achieve a dense drapery texture. After such treatment, only careful hand washing is recommended.
"Margo" is knitted from Lydia Silver yarn, 1600m/100g in 5 folds.
The item's weight for size 44-46 at a length of 58cm is 380g.
